The technology of website push notifications is natively available for SSL-certified, secure websites. This means, if you have an HTTPS website, the opt-in will be a single click for your website on both Chrome and Firefox browsers.
Here’s how the opt-in will appear on your website on Chrome:
And on Android:
The implementation consists of the following 4 steps:
- Sign up for a free PushCrew account.
- Visit the ‘Code and implementation’ section in the Settings and follow the steps under ‘Native implementation for HTTPS websites’.
- We will provide you 4 files (background-worker.js - one for Firefox and the other for Chrome, manifest.json and your logo file customized) that you have to add at the root of your domain (/). And a SMART code that you have to add before the on all (or the pages on which you want the PushCrew opt-in to appear) website pages.
- You are also required to sign up for a free Google Console Developers account and create a Project No. and API key that will be used in your PushCrew implementation. This is a non-technical step and can be accomplished by anyone simply by following steps on this page one by one. It is free and takes less than 5 minutes.
